International Women's Day

International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 every year. :) It was established in 1910 to commemorate the strike of 15,000 women who worked in a textile factory, and that 8 March 1908 in New York they demanded voting rights and improve working conditions. The factory owner closed women which were on strike in the factory premises with the intention of avoiding publicity. As a result of sudden fire were killed 129 women.
The celebration of International Women's Day in Poland were eliminated in 1993, but the last few years is characterized by the back to the tradition of Women's Day.
Women's Day is now an official holiday, among others, in Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Italy and Zambia. This day is a special day for all women and girls in which men are giving gifts to women. They most often buy them flowers because almost all women like them. I read a few months ago that this day in Romania is the equivalent of Mother's Day and children give small presents their mothers and grandmothers
And at the end I will add a link to my favorite song, which reminds me the most of the International Women's Day:
Być kobietą

  2. to be honest, it bothers me that International Women's Day is becoming like Valentine's Day, an opportunity for merchandise sale. As far as I'm concerned, every day should be woman's day!! cause we are irreplaceable, aren't we? :)
